Jewelry Care

Take care of your little jewel. It’s precious like you.

Remember that your jewelry should always be the last thing you put on when you dress up and the first thing you take off when you come home. Contact with lotions, cosmetics or perfumes is generally not good for jewellery items, as the chemicals can speed up the tarnishing process (never spray perfume directly onto your jewellery!). Take off your jewellery while working out, cleaning, gardening, showering, bathing or swimming in chlorinated or salt water.
Always store your jewelry pieces individually, preferably in your ELIRAY pouch or jewellery box so that they don’t rub together, scratch or tangle.

Stainless steel
Stainless steel is an alloy of steel and chromium. It combines strength, durability, and functionality of steel. I mean it, Google it, it lasts a lifetime. It should be cleaned carefully with a soft non-abrasive cloth to maintain shine.  Above all, make sure to dry your jewelry carefully and gently. The golden plating will experience discolouring over time due to factors such as exposure to moisture, chemical and air may turn slightly darker after wearing. Try to prevent plated rings from knocking into counter tops or rubbing against car keys buried in pockets and purses.

Freshwater Pearls
We use cultured pearls from oysters and freshwater mussels that we carefully select for our pieces. Pearls are sensitive so don't forget to treat them with love. Avoid direct contact with chemicals found in perfume or other cosmetics. To help do so, make sure they are the last thing you put on before going out and the first thing you take off when you come home.

Sterling Silver
Contact with lotions, cosmetics or perfumes is generally not good for jewellery items especially sterling silver, as the chemicals can speed up the tarnishing process (never spray perfume directly onto your jewellery!). Take off your jewellery while working out, cleaning, gardening, showering, bathing or swimming in chlorinated or salt water.

How to Store
Store your jewels in a moisture-free, cool dry place. Humidity, sunlight and heat can cause oxidation, so ideally you should keep your loved items in our jewellery box or soft pouch. And always store them separately to avoid scratches.

Following our tips and storing and cleaning your items correctly will help to prevent discolouring and keep your jewellery looking shiny and beautiful for a long time. However, please note that all metals naturally oxidize with time and require maintenance. Additionally, factors such as the acidity of your skin or the way the jewellery has been looked after may result in a faster or slower tarnishing process. If you have any other questions about how to care for your jewelry, please email us at support@eliray.net
